Dettagli dell'osservazione
Pair including one that shows a pretty distinct white band of feathers at the base of the neck. Seen moving about between the pedestrian bridge and the non-motorized dock (kayak dock). They stayed in Boundary Channel the whole time. Very overcast and I stayed with them most of the time hoping for better light to get some better pics. Most of the photos show the pair but a couple only show a single one. One of the squared cropped photos shows only the head and neck upright in a group of geese but that photo shows how flat the crown of the head was in that instant. Another square cropped photos clearly shows the white "collar" as the base of the neck of the one. One of the other square cropped photos shows the geese tilting their heads at a 45° angle which is when the Bald Eagle flew above them. It was flying high enough that it did not spook them all but it was probably only 50 feet above tree top level. My photos aren't catching the subtle color difference of the Cacklings but they did have a slightly more pewter/silverish color to them. They seemed comfortable going in and out of the Canadas and I did not see any Canadas hassling them. My audio is poor due to distance and the wind (which I have tried to filter out a bit in this recording). The Cackling is giving more of a "ruff" type call and is on the front end of the recording. The recording ends with a Canada Goose giving a loud call.
