Chances are this is a "Nothing Burger." At minimum, I wanted to ask folks to keep an eye out and try to get better shots of this gull; especially head, bill details, eye color, in flight upper/lower, etc. In the field: it had pink legs, was AHGU-size, and a mantle color between adjacent AHGU and nearby LBBG. I believe these birds feed on the Oxford dump, bathe/stage at Mountain Lake, and then head to Hunterdon reservoirs to roost because I get late afternoon, southbound flights over my Washington Twp home. It could just be normal variation of AHGU, AHGU x LBBG, and even VEGU needs to be ruled out. I do not believe this bird to be a LBBG. One of the pics does not include the bird in question but does have a LBBG in the background, for mantle evaluation. As the bird shuffled around a bit, the mantle color did not change in the overcast lighting. Pics are zoomed from my D7200 LCD screen, as birds were across the lake. I guess I should have tried from the swimming beach area.
