Dettagli dell'osservazione
First one spotted in a bush a few feet away by a nearby group member, who was playing Nelson’s Sparrow song to summon it. I located the bird they had found and took note of the rather bright coloring for a sparrow, especially on the head. I also noted the signature gray circle on the cheeks that Nelson’s Sparrows tend to have. After this, a whistling/chipping call could be heard for several minutes, giving me plenty of time to cross examine with sounds AND the structure of the chirp on the spectrogram from merlin app, which confirmed to me that it was in fact a Nelson’s. After this, a second identical whistling/chipping call could be heard from the other side of the trail, and the second Nelson’s was spotted shortly after with the same identifiable features. They also did at one point lane next to each other in the same bush, giving us a chance to closely compare both. Continuing.
