*Subadult at the end of West 15th street, first at the water’s edge but then relocated to up the beach near the boardwalk. Refound on the sand at the edge of the boardwalk on our return trip an hour later, right by the W15th street sign; right side lower mandible pattern confirms same bird. Retained mostly dark bill contrasting against otherwise adult-like features is a lesser black-back specialty; retained pink legs are along the same continuum. Appeared to be a fairly short-legged individual.
