Dettagli dell'osservazione
4th Lycoming record. Absolutely insane count for a county with 3 total individuals of this species previously confirmed, and an extremely high count for anywhere in this part of the continent. 75 is quite conservative. A combination of several mixed flocks of geese over the course of an hour (mostly Snow, with many Blues, plus a few Greater White-fronted in one flock, in addition to the Ross’s). True count was likely close to 100-125 based on the number of “iffy” birds in photos that I didn’t count as Ross’s but likely were. The birds all seemed to be lifting off from a field to the northeast, because they were all climbing and from the same direction. Altogether, Ross’s probably represented 10% or more of the total geese in these flocks. First group: 10 Ross's Distant group: unknown, several suspected Ross's (hard to confirm due to distance) Next group: 1 Ross's Next group: at least 12 Ross's Next group: at least 9 Ross's Best/last group: at least 6 GWFG, at least 45 Ross's (entire subgroups of the flock)
