First spotted at about 7:40AM, on the north side of the trail at around 33°39′23″ N 117°47′28″ W. Two seen at the same time and just 3-4' apart in the dry vegetation. One stayed lower in the grasses so no photo of that one, but the other perched nicely on the dry stalks. Noticeably smaller than nearby WCSP, overall buff, brown, and warm brown markings on upperparts, buff color on breast fading to white lower belly. Crown a dark brown with white central stripe, orange lores and warm wash on cheeks. Yellow wing edges seen in field and perhaps visible in one of my photos. After 10 minutes or so, both flew across the trail & disappeared into dry vegetation just south of the trail at about 33°39′24″ N 117°47′29″ W (the area just beyond a small oak at the edge of the trail).
