Eurasian Wigeon

This bird stood out because of the rusty colored face and rusty tones on the chest, flanks, and back. In the field it appeared that the base of the bill lacked the black edge expected on an American Wigeon and my cropped photos showed no black outline around the bill. The flanks showed a linear patch of gray and the reddish scapulars looked longer than the back feathers and were edged in gray. The scapular length and colors plus the gray on the flanks suggest this is an immature male.
