Similar size or slightly larger than nearby coots, depending on viewing angle. Dark brown flanks to black on the back. Dark cap down to base of the eye, light gray to white face/cheek patch. Nearby RUDU with similar facial pattern photos also included in this report for size comparison to abundant coots. Observed with Scott and Denise Ray. Thanks to Chris Chappel and others for heads up.
