Dettagli dell'osservazione

33.902024,-117.876900 Please note that the bird can only be heard calling at the 22 second mark on the audio recording. I discovered much to my dismay when I went home to process my audio recordings that my microphone picked up the sounds of the 57 freeway. This was caused by the fact that the bird was in the southern part of the park, closer to the freeway and it was between me and the freeway. It might not even make a difference in terms of which direction I am pointing the microphone to record this bird. I might just pick up the freeway no matter which direction I point my microphone. I returned today with my large microphone and spent a lot of time recording (Side note: there are recordings of this species in Europe where it is also a vagrant and you hear the same thing on the European recordings: airplanes and trucks drowning out the bird sounds). Today, the pipit was lower downhill in the park, and it spent a lot of time walking around underneath the cinder block wall of somebody's house that borders the park. The bird hugged the edges of the grass along that person's wall. It continued pumping its tail like a wagtail, and it still had a green back without any white braces on the back. It still had the light colored supercilium and light colored spot underneath the supercilium, and behind the eye. This morning, the supercilium and white dot behind the eye looked more tan colored than white. Last week, when I saw the bird, it looked more whitish. The bird fed actively the whole time we were watching it, and it would pick at the underside of leaves and things on the ground, acting a lot like a Worm eating Warbler or an Ovenbird.
