This is a conservative count; there could have been as many as 10, but only six of which could be confidently identified. These sparrows were ground runners that frequently perched atop chopped cornstalks in the fields here. Bold white eye rings and outer tail feathers were seen well. A few of the individuals also displayed their chestnut colored shoulder patches. Photo attached. Permission from the landowner is required to bird this location beyond the roadsides.
