Smaller than nearby Anna's Hummingbirds; white throat with the start of the purple gorget; white postocular stripe. Upon further study of the images: 1. The reflected gorget color is a bright magenta interspersed slightly with other bright colors, as opposed to the deep almost blueish-purple color of a male Black-chinned. 2. Some of the freshly molted gorget feathers on the upper throat are very bright and do not contrast with molted gorget feathers on the lower throat. In a male Black-chinned some of these molted upper throat feathers would be contrastingly dark. 3. Photo #1 shows some bright magenta feathers molting in on the crown, which is not expected in a Black-chinned.
