Medium-sized sandpiper, notably larger than the SESAs it was associating with. Beautiful breeding individual. Obviously rufous above with pale whitish head (smudged with grayish brown), flanks, and vent. Large, bold black belly patch. Rather long bill drooping at tip. A few exceedingly poor digiscopes taken at distance in failing light, bird hardly visible in them
