Original observers: Al Sinclair, Bruce Stephenson. Source: Muskoka Bird Board 12, May 2004; Al Sinclair pers. comm. 2017. While collecting data for the first Atlas of the Breeding Birds of Ontario, Al Sinclair and Bruce Stephenson observed two young Great Horned Owls in a used heron nest in an active Great Blue Heron heronry. The adult owl was heard hooting softly in the woods at the edge of the pond, but wasn't seen. Sinclair managed to digiscope photos of the young in the nest.
