Distinct giant woodpecker, knocking bark off the lower end of a tree. No calling or notable drumming at the time. Seen from narrow dirt social trail continuing north from pollinator garden into woods / upslope, with several birders searching the area after earlier sightings until I found it again and summoned others over. Likely was also visible from sidewalk across from grants tomb, around what would be 123rd and riverside. Bird seen at about 5:45 PM. Pics through binocs for ID.
