The warbler is a scrub bottom dwelling bird that resembles the Kakamega poliothorax in many respects, including the hues and colours of its body and upto washes of grey on the flanks. In all the time we observed the bird and before, it never left the interior of the scrub. The face has black stripes that are very visible at close-up. We saw it for well over 2 minutes from 2 meters away. The camera lenses were wrong for close encounters. The bird rarely rose 1 meter above ground and was in a very dense understory. There is a duet of the recognized call and Tchak reply. We saw one bird but one was lurking in the back and a possible pair duetting some distance off. The call does not crescendo or decrease in intensity and the birds are more likely to call when the sun is well up. We did not detect any calls till around 9 o'clock and previous observations were made between 2-4 pm. The other bird in that interior is little greenbul ( noting that some of the Zambia records, also have little greenbul calling in the background)
