Stint, black legs, longish body, black bill, short not finely tipped. Adult with some retained summer plumage. White chin, warm orange throat and upper breast, contrasting with white underparts and super. The super met over the bill, wide in front and behind eye. Eye stripe dark, ear coverts orange buff. Crown fine brown steaks. Fine brown streaking from side of breast continued lightly below orange on breast. White v on back. Some orange/red on upper coverts. Secondaries black w pale edge. Lower coverts mainly buffy , median darker w buff edges, some winter feathers. Upper coverts dark with orange edges. Contrast between median and upper coverts
