Dettagli dell'osservazione
After about two decades of personally hearing what I thought were most likely Fish Crows (about six total birds), today Levi Wilson was able to get a cooperative bird that he had seen earlier in the morning that most likely returned in the afternoon to the Ludington State Park lighthouse. Susie Knoll and I were able to meet Levi and locate the bird at the Big Sauble Light House. Nasally One Tone calls and additional nasally caw-type calls. Wings appeared more pointed than an American crow, the tail appeared longer, and it appeared to be more glossy puple. The bird was hunched when calling, its throat feathers were very ruffled, more so than an AMCR, and the bill appeared smaller/more slender than an AMCR with what seemed to be the typical amount of hook to the tip of the bill. As another indicator, the "Wing Formula" (primary feathers, p9/p5) also was in favor of a Fish Crow, and the wings looked somewhat more pointed in appearance. Photos, audio, and video.
