One female-plumaged individual, well seen, in area with extensive stands of native bamboo, photographed (photos will be uploaded), generally medium/chocolate brown over the body and head, uniformly colored with no streaks, darker brown wings and tail (with no blue tint), very prominent round black eye in plainly colored brown head, small conical bill with slightly curved culmen; responded strongly to playback of songs and calls of Blue Seedeater; gave chip calls matching those of Blue Seedeater. Both Varied Bunting and Blue Bunting easily eliminated by bill size and lack of blue in the wings, other female seedeaters by darker brown color, more conical bill with less curved culmen.
