Dettagli dell'osservazione
Continuing bird, observed by many in the Grand Pre area since over the past few days since it was first reported on eBird by Guy Stevens on Sept 17 (post hurricane Lee). First observed on this occasion roosting on the north side of the far sandbar amongst a group of about 30 gulls (mostly rbgu), as the incoming tide concentrated the birds together into a closer group. Was flushed when a pefa put most of the shorebirds in flight - came back and landed on the south side of the same sandbar. It was eventually forced to move twice by the incoming tide, and it flew north ward out over the river, heading in the direction of the Guzzle. During the time I watched the bird, Richard Stern, Jake Walker and Jake Chute all arrived and were able to observe the tern as well. Med sized tern, and even at a distance, the black bill and dark cap could be clearly seen; the darker wing tips are visible in some photos when the bird was in flight. Will attach a few photos from the dslr and a few taken through the scope.
