several hundred were seen over a few miles in the Cache Point Channel. roughly 500. some were actively feeding. flocks of all dark shearwaters with grayish underwings. judged to be Short-tailed Shearwater rather than sooty based on location, underwing pattern and head shape. iphone pic attached - thanks Jenni Pyne! - all those specks are shearwaters.
