Dettagli dell'osservazione
Found this bird because of a tip from another birder (THANK YOU!) who had it just a little earlier. A warbler with extensive red on belly, slate gray to near-black upper parts, white tail corners. Posture exhibited extreme fanning of tail even for a redstart, and odd drooping of the wings, Separated from Painted Redstart by no white wing bar and comparatively less extensive white in tail. I didn’t see a white eye mark as in Painted Redstart although it was a bit of a distant view as the bird was in tall trees on the opposite side of the canyon. Vocalization was a chip note, was not singing during the time I watched it. Found on boot canyon trail about a 1/4 mile from the old cabin/picnic table, upstream from junction with Juniper Canyon Trail and just short of where the trees peter out and the canyon becomes open (as in no tree canopy).
