As I arrived to scope the end of Porter Avenue, Rebecca Ploeger called over to me to look at a grebe she had just found. It was circling the small marina with some Canada geese. Immediately the head shape alone separated this bird from all other grebes that can show up in our area. The Geese eventually moved out onto the river swimming south and the grebe joined them. We also grabbed some photos for the purpose of identification.
