Terrible photos taken, audio recorded. Will upload both. Originally thought it was a late Eastern Wood-Pewee as seen in harsh lighting. Call sounded off to me though, and sent to several friends for help with ID. Think this might be Cuban Pewee recorded. Please let me know if you disagree. Audio uploaded. As an FYI if this is a Cuban Pewee: I parked on the shoulder of the road directly across from the handicap parking space. The bird was calling and feeding in the bare Jamaican dogwood trees behind the main "trail" and educational sign. After taking several photos quickly, and waiting out a few planes, I managed to get a couple of decent recordings of the call. The bird bounced off to my right (the east) and I followed it down some foot paths. I lost it around here 24.557563, -81.768316 as I did not want to disturb an active homeless camp set up. I first located the bird at about this location: 24.557413, -81.769241 where I heard and photographed it. It went hunting after that but I still heard it at the location provided above. This area is small and terrain is level. Parking available on the shoulder of the road by the fence next to salt ponds (behind the Airport). Noisy with planes taking off and landing. Traffic is usually light. Not much shade. Description: Pewee with white eye ring, weak white wing bars, dark grayish back and lighter belly, base of lower bill lighter in color than upper bill, shaggy crest visible on top of head. Eventually ruled out EAWP based on eye ring and calls recorded. Would be 10th(?) state/US record if accepted by FOS. Possibly first record and recording of one singing in US.
