Balearic shearwaters from the darkest of the color range from the lightest. White or intermediate plumages as seen on some photos are predominent from the Cabrera Island south of Maiorca but still show mauritanicus haplotypes with no introgression with yelkouans. Although they can show a very witish belly, the vent and undertail allways have the caracteristic dark smudge like most balearic shearwaters.
