1 adult male in breeding plumage. Initial views from about 25 feet away, unmistakable. Purplish head, shaped with a very slight crest as opposed to the round head of a Greater Scaup. Light blue-gray bill. Medium gray back with light gray almost whitish flanks. I returned later, with my camera, at 4:57 pm. The bird was still there, providing good, close views off the earthen dam, at Red House Lake. Took a bunch of pictures.
