A Wire-tailed Swallow preening on the edge of a river crossing. Wire-tailed Swallows (Hirundo smithii) are a fairly common small swallow that is often seen in water in southern Africa. They often nest in man-made structures such as wildlife hides, bridges or under the eaves of buildings. This Wire-tailed Swallow was preening on the edge of the Olifants River Causeway in Kruger National Park, South Africa. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: July 12, 2018.
