A lateral view of an immature male perched feeding on salvia flowers by piercing the base of some of the flowers with its.....bill in a process called "nectar robbing" (see Author's comments below). "Nectar robbing" happens when a flower's opening has collapsed or damaged preventing the hummingbird to stick its bill into the flower as it would normally do. This is also a common practice with some insects and other small birds. Elevation: 24 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
