Possible A. a. flavirostris, which is a race that breeds in western Greenland. This bird appears darker overall. The tail has only a very narrow white tip. All other races have a broader tail band. This bird shows heavy black barring on its belly. This bird also appears to have an orangeish pink at the base of the bill indicative of A.a. flavirostris.

Photos of a medium-sized goose slightly smaller then CAGO. Suggest Greenland race Anser albifrons flavirostris. Bill is orange/pink with white forehead and lores extending to the base of the bill. Black mottled or streak belly with white undertail coverts, black tail with white tip. Legs are clearly orange. More work is needed to define the race of these tundra nesting Ken was the first to identify the bird while counting CAGO, followed by myself and Fred. Clearly if this bird had been farther from the road and with it's back to us, we would never have seen it. The flock moved farther down the lake then, around 6:10 pm the entire flock, except for 2 CAGO, flew off to the north. Hancock County life bird for me, number 301 and a Hancock County record bird. "albifrons comes from the Latin albus "white" and frons" forehead ". Wikileaks
