Lifer. Widely reported and chased. Initially identified by Tim Avery as a Parasitic Jaeger, later he decided it was a Pomarine. Mark Stackhouse and Jay Langford determined it was a Parasitic. I initially called it a Pomarine on the basis of my assessment in the field and Tim Avery's comments, but this was my first observation of a jaeger of any species. After further review of my photos and especially of Tim's (Mar 2012), I believe Mark and Jay are correct and that this was a Parasitic, on the basis of mostly bill and torso structure, but also because Parasitics at this age do sometimes show a double flash in the underside of the primaries. Embedded here are my photographs taken on this observation. Tim Avery has many better photographs of the same individual taken on the previous two days: http://www.timaverybirding.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=175 Discussion of this bird's identification is here: http://secureserver.securesites.net/pipermail/birdnet/2007-September/date.html and here: http://listserv.arizona.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A1=ind0709c&L=birdwg01 All commenters on the Frontiers in Field Identification listserv indicated that this was a Parasitic, at least in the end (some initially indicated Pomarine but later changed their mind). Record was later accepted by the Utah Bird Records Committee as the 11th state record of Parasitic Jaeger: http://www.utahbirds.org/RecCom/2020/2020_23Summary.htm
