**very high; large numbers across the southern Maine coast but this was spectacular. New state high in eBird; previous high was 1050 from April 1985 in Lubec. Rounded the corner from Freddy to find what I estimated to be around 200 birds along the shoreline of the beach; a 1x1 count came to 244. An even bigger flock (~320) flew in from the E and the originally flock lifted off to join them, flying SW towards the Pool. A dozen or so birds were visible along the sandbar to Basket Island, and distant flocks of 5-100+ were moving by in Saco Bay, mostly headed S. Another large flock ~200 was loitering around Ram Island, and one flock passed overhead at the jetty headed seemingly upriver. Really a spectacle.
