Medium sized woodpecker with complex black and white back pattern. Flanks are a dirty, washed out ash color. Belly is indeed yellow, observed this while it was hanging upside down foraging for berries. In general it is staying stationary for 5 or more minutes on the side of a tree, and foraging a few berries and back to the tree.
