This is a good example of what BK Wheeler (in Birds of Prey of the West) calls a Red-tailed Hawk Eastern X Krider's (see pages 140-141, 30 j). My photos align pretty well in terms of modest black marking on flanks, some barring on the red tail, and extensive white on head.
