Large, pale-mantled gull, paler than the other Am. herring seen in the pond. Dark grayish wingtips that appear gray rather than black in all angles I photographed. Straight, pale yellow bill and clear iris. Paler than would be expected for herring x glaucous-winged. Pale eye and longer bill are uncommon for Thayers. A few differing opinions on this one, and unfortunately I didn't get any other shots. Possibly a herring from the eastern US or herring x glaucous, but there hasn't been a consensus.
