After getting some input, this seems like the likely possibility, but open to correction. Large, pale-mantled gull, paler than the other Am. herring seen in the pond. Dark grayish wingtips that appear gray rather than black in all angles I photographed. Straight, pale yellow bill and clear iris. Paler than would be expected for herring x glaucous-winged. Pale eye and longer bill mostly rule out Iceland.
