Four Ferruginous Ducks (1 Male 3 Females) seen in the same fishpond, mingling and interacting with little grebes. Male was rusty rich brown with pale eye, heavily contrasting white underpart of tail, keeping its distance overall. The three Females had black eyes, heads were conspicuously darker than males, almost dark burgundy. Less conspicuous white tail underparts but still present. One of them was slightly more confiding. Compared to common pochard immature/female, far darker with less contrasting pale feathers. Lacks the conspicuous amber eyes of tufted ducks (of all sexes). Seen well with other birders such as Matthew Kwan whom was reported later today.
