Red-breasted Mergansers were continually streaming by along the horizon in flocks a few (4 to 20) to 100 or more birds. Jason and Alex took more meaningful tallies, but we estimated at least 600 (based on 200 ducks/hour over the approx. 3 hours we sea-watched)
