Found by Karl Schmidt yesterday. Young bird, apparently still learning to hunt. It took several desperate looking passes at a Red-winged Blackbird and a Cardinal. Strong, fast flier. Had a back-and-forth with the Jays: it chased them, they chased it back...6 Jays didn't seem to know what to make of the Shrike: never went into all out mob mode and eventually they must've decided it wasn't worth bothering with and left the Shrike to hunt the hedgerow in peace.
