Adult bird, larger than RHGU and smaller than AHGU with slightly darker backside. Yellow bill with sub terminal blackish band and orange spot on gonys. Moderately heavily mottled head. Eyes appeared to be dark, but this was difficult to discern with rather poor lighting. Legs appeared pinkish. I had first thought California Gull but this birds profile seems wrong, bit pot bellied and rather short primary projection. Now thinking more Appledores Gull. Back color seems too pale for LBBG.
