I have never been frightened by Montezuma quails. They were all hiding by the main trail to the canyon as I was peacefully strolling, then i flushed all of them they werw flying all around me. I screamed so loud and they screamed too. One of the young one stayed on the trail so we could get a picture. They were adults and juveniles. It was a whole family.
