Bird #2
פרטי השורה
Flagged as rare. Lifer. Initial bird teed up for a good, quick look in scrubby stand of willows along the bank of the reservoir. Seen very well several more times in the willows and moving along the edge of the pinewoods. Lost it once when it flew into the forest, landing at least 15 ft up in a tree. There was a mixed flock of chickadees, Red-eyed Vireos, and Pine Warblers in the area, but the bird wasn't moving with them. Walking back through the willows, I flushed a Connecticut and got a good luck. Then 45 seconds later, I flushed up another Connecticut from grass 20ft in the opposite direction that the first had gone. It’s possible the first bird had quickly doubled backed, but I’m fairly certain there were two. Photos seem to show two different individuals, one with a distinctive white mark below the throat. Chunky, skulking warblers with long bills, grayish hoods, and strong white eye rings. I was able to see the long, yellow undertail coverts on the first bird.
