Seen at a distance sitting on a sandbank mid-stream in the Nagara River - in the same spot as I had first observed it on December 29th. It flew off low and alighted on a metal pole in a suburban housing area in Hikie. I was able to get excellent views of this juvenile bird with its glossy chocolate-brown plumage. Wonderful that this rarity stayed around to be put onto my eBird Year List for Gifu City in 2025!
