Exact Count. Appeared to be a feeding family group. Never did see actually feeding between birds, but one trailing another as if typical juvenile begging. Clear look at one through bins at 30 feet when popped up from leaves in Russian Olive initially. Small warbler with sharply pointed bill, all gray, medium gray above, whitish gray below with no visible markings in field. Not seen at the time, but photo shows streaky red patch on crown. In flight, backlighting showed the outer tail feathers as slightly lighter or at least more translucent due to sunlight. Rapid chip calls (presumably from juvenile) that was slightly sharper, higher than the typical Lucy’s call. Hopeful this is the result of a singing Lucy’s Warbler that we had on April 22 at same location. Though not along “river”, habitat suitable for breeding with Cottonwood/Willows along small creeks, wetlands. Foraging in Russian Olive, Rio Grande Cottonwood, Gooding’s Willow, then Coyote Willows before losing track. Behavior and apparent family group suggest breeding on or very near property or potentially on the main Las Golondrinas property.
