I spoke to wild Bird recovery and they said they would take the robin. When I came back to catch him I watched him successfully grab and eat three worms and pretty quick succession. I decided that the stress I was causing him was possibly unnecessary and I'm going to just keep checking back on him because he's staying in the same area around that pavilion. Maybe he's one of the lucky ones with a broken beak or bill deformity that is able to still eat and thrive. I cannot tell if the black stuff is just dead plant matter from foraging or sign of an injury. The worm on the ground in the second shot was one he pulled out and ate.
