פרטי השורה
Two tanagers together, one of which was observed in detail by myself and photo-documented. Wings darker than body, with two distinct, whitish wingbars. Body did NOT exhibit orange hue as in Summer Tanager. Heavy typical tanager bill, with orange/flesh-colored hue consistent with Western Tanager. Could not observe back to verify contrast with nape typical of Western Tanager, nor could I see head in profile to compare to peaked crown as in Summer Tanager. However, sufficient details and photo-documentation to determine this was Western Tanager. Second observer (John Cimbaro), confident that both birds featured flesh-colored bills. Photos attached of the one bird observed in detail. Last 3 photos have been post-processed to balance color to adjust for backlit conditions (originals also attached). The tanagers were found in a thin stand of trees just inside the boundary fence on the east side of the park, south of the sand volleyball court but north of the park's south-most parking area. Last seen flying east towards Hillcrest Memorial cemetery.
