Poor video (handheld and buffeted a little by the wind) showing a male Streak-backed Oriole foraging in the dense golden leaves of a large cottonwood tree. seemed to hold down the food (plucked fruit or buds) with one foot and then pull it apart with its bill. Gila Woodpeckers were feeding similarly.
פרטי השורה
First seen at 14:10 (2:10 pm) in the larger of the standalone golden-leaved cottonwood trees. A large pale orange oriole moving around in the dense gold leaves with at least two Gila Woodpeckers. Gave 'rattle call' a couple of times. I think it is probably an adult female because it is not rich orange except for hints on the neck. Also, the back has green tones. Would expect a male to be navel orange with an orange back, a more extensive black bib, and broader wingbars. Photography was mediocre because of the distance and still thick canopy but sufficient to rule out other species and give some insight into the oriole's feeding strategy, although I couldn't discern exactly what it was eating. Buds perhaps?
