Maybe a hybrid House X Purple!! Structurally the bird looked like a House Finch with a long tail and smallish head. But after looking at photos and sharing with Fogarty, Gray, and Iverson, I'm starting to wonder about the possibility of this being a House X Purple based on the following reasons: 1) color being somewhat like a male PUFI with that more wine iridescent color; 2) the extensiveness of the coloration going all the way down the back and sides; 3) reduced streaking on the sides and pretty much none on the sides of the breast; 4) face pattern being reminiscent of a male PUFI. Looking at the photo of he bird perched in the cherry tree, too, the head shape does look a little bulkier and more an extension of the body like on a PUFI, whereas on HOFI the head looks totally separate and small from the body. Not sure about this, though. Like I said, when I saw it in the field it sure looked like an overly bright House Finch. Only record in eBird and mentioned in Birds of the World online is a record from Georgia: https://ebird.org/checklist/S104735627?_gl=1*1mp6eh1*_ga*MTM1MzYzNzE2MS4xNjAyMDIzMDY4*_ga_QR4NVXZ8BM*MTY3NzA5MzIyMy4yMTQuMS4xNjc3MDkzNjcyLjQ0LjAuMA..&_ga=2.172973603.1692205648.1677003668-1353637161.1602023068
