פרטי השורה
Thanks to Frank Gill and Sally Conyne who reached out to let me know they had a Selasphorus hummingbird coming to their feeders this morning. When I got there, it was most reliably seen at the feeders and plants at the rear of the house. It was very territorial and constantly defended the feeders and plants from the Ruby-throats that were there. On one occasion, it displayed by taking a series of steep dives, all following the similar path. David LaPuma was contacted and he came and successfully banded the hummingbird. David identified the hummingbird as a hatch year female Rufous. He said the width of R5 ruled out Allen’s Hummingbird(David has the measurements). He also said the green band in R2 makes it a female. Bird was present from 9/23-10/5.
