babies making "pee-eep" calls while attempting to swim to the other side of the creek; one parent calling and prompting them from the other side

Both parents and 7 following them chicks (covered in black natal down) were observed crossing the road, disappearing into vegetation and then swimming across the creek. I heard the adults and the chicks making frequent calls. The high pitched "pee-eep" calls of the chicks were heard almost constantly. The adults would frequently grunt and click. Plenty of contact calling. A few chicks lagged behind but eventually managed to get across and joined the rest.
