Flyover with a flock of 80 migrating Canada Geese in the morning. The flock first appeared over Travers Marsh at 0838h. At 0840h I heard a wheezy whistle call that I was completely unfamiliar with, at which point I spotted a smaller bird flying with the flock of Canada Geese, which were past me by this point. I snapped a few photos, zoomed in, and was absolutely dumbfounded to see the large striking white patterning in the wings. It was at this moment it clicked for me what I was hearing. I tried to capture more photos as the flock flew away, but they are not useful in identification. By 0841h the flock had disappeared over the treeline and continued roughly NW, appearing to follow the Petawawa River, heading up stream. The adrenaline rush that followed nearly made me tip the canoe. Although I sure hope I do, I very well may never find a better bird in Algonquin Park. First record for Algonquin Provincial Park.
