The next chapter in this magnificent bird’s odyssey. Located on the Black Rocks 1.5 miles off the coast of Griffith's Head, having flown south from the Five Islands approximately an hour before I arrived. Probably 100+ birders present. Initially on the farthest of the four visible Black Rocks, and I was unable to make out any distinctive features in my scope. Thankfully, shortly after I began to view it, it took flight -- and its white-wing patches and tremendous wingspan were evident. It flew to the second-farthest of the rocks, displacing a BAEA that was perched there. When the two interacted, it was clear the Steller's was king. I then watched it for a while as it stayed stationary, its white wing-patches illuminated even on this cloudy, hazy afternoon. An amazing experience being able to witness this bird for the first time today.
